Added to my Amazon list on your recommendation...I do not know the history on this one, but seen below is the Collings Foundation's F-100 from last weekend...From the tail number, it'll be a later one...

F-4 weapons release (349th MMS) was not my first weapons job...I was assigned to a load crew with our F-105's in the 9th TFS when I arrived at Spang...I asked for reassignment to weapons release when I heard we were getting new F-4's (more brainwork, less spit shine)...All our 105's went to Vietnam, and my information was that none survived...They worked better as fighters, sucked as bombers......Ben

You may have pumped fuel for the Collings F-100...My research shows that 63-951 is a ficticious tail number chosen by Collings...The original TN was 56-3844...This page says:

My favorite plane from the 60's was the A6 Intruder. Just a work horse.

    Found it for you, Joe...
    Pricing
Pricing starts at $30,000 US for a single flight
training program. Add a second training flight
    for $23,000 more.
Mere pocket change for a wealthy retired civil servant...For an extra $23K Mrs. Joe could take the flight, too...What a great second honeymoon at Kennedy Space Center in sunny Florida......Ben

Reading all of the "Jake Grafton" books right now and almost finished with Under Siege. Have to do them in order to keep up. I read flight of the intruder decades ago and loved it and then just drifted into other books and have started them back up. Wasn't Willam Defoe in that movie Ben?

Never mind I clicked on your link and got my answer. That is one I will have to add to my collection of movies.

Flight of the Intruder was a good read!

I also recommend Into the Mouth of the Cat.

My wife's first husband was a navigator on an F-100 and died in a crash of his plane in Buzzard's Bay just before deployment to 'Nam. She says that amongst the community the F-100's were commonly known as "The Widow Maker" for their propensity to crash with all hands. I doubt she would be up for the 104 ride.

I used to see National Guard pilots who flew the Phantom wearing shirts that said "The F4, something over 30 you cab still trust"

Now, I just got back from the store with my copy of American Sniper, think I will watch it again.
