It takes a while to get over it..... A dog tale.
A few years back we had 2 dogs Rusty and Sami. Brother and sister. They got old and had bad hearts. Rusty died one day and about a year later Sami's heart started to give out the point I was not happy with her quality of life so we decided to put her down. We decided to do it on 11/14 (same day Rusty died) and had a vet come to the house to do it (she lived it up with ice cream and peanut butter treats that day?). A little over a year latter I was getting the itch for another dog but Nurse Paula was not so sure she was ready. One day I was walking past Petco on my way to Home Cheapo and they were having an adoption event. i walk up to the fenced off area and all the pups are sniffing butt or playing with toys except for this one goofy looking Chiweenie. She was jumping up the fence to get my attention. I picked her up and played with her for a few minutes and had the girl snap a pic of us. I felt a bond and that she would be a good dog. I sent the pic to Nurse Paula and went to Home Cheapo.. She replied back with "No, that is too goofy looking"... When i got home I asked her to come meet the dog and she reluctantly agreed. When we got to Petco she met the dog and took her for a quick lap around Petco. I could tell she was not really serious about taking her home. She asked the lady how old the dog was and she grabbed her file and said "She was born on 11/14". I though Nurse Paula was going to faint... Lexi the Chiweenie was born on the SAME DAY that we put Sami down and the same date that Rusty died. She looked at me and said we were taking the dog home.
Lexi has been the best dog we have ever had !!!
