Lots of emotions as this tragedy starts to sink in. Right now I am very sad and very pissed. We will find who did this and they will receive swift justice at the hands of the court. You don't shoot three cops in the back and walk away. Texas will have another on death row.

I didn't know any of the deputies involved in this tragedy, they were hired after my retirement and status change to reserve. I do know the father of Deputy Atkins, he is also a deputy with Precinct 4.

Deputy Atkins had just returned to work from paternal leave. He leaves behind a wife and a two month old baby that will never know its father.

A second deputy, Deputy Daryl Garrett was shot multiple times in the back. He underwent surgery where both of his kidneys and his gall bladder were removed. He will require a kidney transplant when recovered sufficiently for the surgery. He also took a bullet to the spine. Unknown what the results of that will be. He was engaged to be married two weeks ago.

The third deputy, Deputy Juqaim Barthen was shot in the leg/foot. Unknown what his prognosis might be.

These recently escalating ambushes of law enforcement officers are the result of political and news media disrespect for law enforcement. That must change. Otherwise, the country will be thrown into anarchy.

Anarchy could very well be the aim of those who encourage ambushes of this type...It seems far fetched that an organized group would actually want lawlessness and anarchy, but it the final goal happened to be the establishment of a new power base then it would make sense to discredit current governments with a system of seemingly random attacks...Planting ideas in absorbent minds such as would-be media writers and dissatisfied hoodlums could be just two teeth added to another cog spinning faster and gaining ground...That's as far as my limited thinking on the subject takes me......Ben

No they're not thought of as real people they are thought of as enemies of the state people that need to be defunded, people that need to be degraded, people that do nothing but bad. Sadly that is what many on the left, many, have been calling for and celebrate.

The white vehicles with yellow and blue stripes are Harris County Sheriff's Office and the black and whites belong to Houston Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety:

My best guess at this time is that the shooter has fled to Mexico which is a common escape route for Hispanic shooters in Texas.
