I have met a hand full of cyclists between the lower 48 and Deadhorse (Prudhoe Bay) that were doing extreme rides---a few from the Arctic Ocean to Terra del Fuego Chili. One was a man in his 60's that was about 100 miles south of Deadhorse on his north bound journey from Terra del Fuego. He had been robbed two or three times and beaten up once while in South America. Their route follows (as best as possible) the Pan-American highway.
I am in awe of all of them---what a commitment!
