Everything I read he said sounds very effective at freezing a situation before one arose. I would have given him a commendation.

That was on the Caustic News Network so who knows if its true.

First I want to say, I am absolutely biased in favor of the police. With that out of the way I think the cop was trying to relate to these young men. I don't think he meant for a minute that he was going to light them up if they ran. However, these days it is much better for a cop to keep his mouth shut and then just show up when they commit the crimes and put them in jail. And it "shocks" me that the ACLU was happy with the firing of a cop. Now that is a big surprise...............
OPINION....a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
Having been there and probably said worse, I fully understand. The cop was alone, facing 4 trespassers (or worse), in the dark, in an area where he said he was finding an average of a gun a week. He was trying to let the trespassers know who was in command from the outset before something bad happened to him. Granted, he could have used a better choice of words, but I cannot believe he was fired for that. I suspect it was an excuse to get rid of someone they didn't want to keep around any longer.

I understood when the conversation started for all the reasons above but the farther it went the more it sounded like a lit fuse. You can't rule by terror and with the way every interaction with a cop is depicted in the media......I don't know about the fired part, he could have taken one of those PC classes and all would have been good, maybe. If he had all four under arrest all the treats he could muster to keep the situation under control would have been warranted until help arrived I think. But as a matter of fact conversation, nah.

Neither of us was there. All we have is a brief video clip that does not show us what happened before. It does not show us the suspects and what they were doing at the time. It does not show us their body language. We don't know what part of town this took place this was in. Lots of things we don't know, but you want to condemn the cop. No surprise there.

Where do you come up with "No surprise there" I've always been 99% on the cops side on pretty much every issue unless really obvious. You're right though we each do have an opinion neither of us was there. The truth does show in your opinion though! No surprise there, bite me!

Mike, with your past experiences with law enforcement I would expect you to take the stance you did. That is where the no surprise comes from.

The report I read references a prior incident during a traffic stop, but nothing else about it. That could be determinative.

My stance has always been on the cops side, always! I was wrong I got arrested, thank god for cops because the path I was on needed to be stopped. I've got 10 TEN assault and batteries on a cop on my sheet. When my mother was murdered I just ran in the house when I got there, every cop there jumped on me and all I knew was to fight I wasn't thinking about evidence, they were. They were not playing the sympathy card and neither was I. Can you imagine my adrenaline. They wore me out but it was my fault, no lawsuit. Another time stone cold innocent but with my record they were not taking any chances, I got worn and locked up for four months before they let me go, the courts said arrest me, no lawsuit. And on and on, literally, you want to know about the murder charge? I never once blamed a cop I never once sued a department. I bring up my record because it helps me get it off my chest it lets others know that we can all end up in the same place but I have never ever in any way shape or form been anything but pro-cop, on this board or any place else. Had you not jumped to conclusions over the last 20? years you would have know that.

I apologize I'm the one that jumped. All that stuff was thirty/forty years ago and yes I let it be known but even after all this time, I am still judged by it. Jobs, relationships, community activism, I was strung out on Heroin at 12 years old, fifty-something years ago. Nobody lets the past go, this brought up in my mind by the Judge that grabbed a boob. Not saying you but if somebody thinks they can get their agenda passed they will ruin a man and his family in a heartbeat, no second thought everybody is expendable, that's the sad part. I received many a beating mostly because of my mouth telling cops to take their best shot and spent many days in jail where I didn't belong because of my past. But by god I was not going to submit, had to keep up the image you know. So, Again, sorry Mike
