    The Titanic...

As seen in new computer enhanced scans...It's as if the seawater was suddenly drained away, and you were standing on the ocean floor...
Submersibles, remotely controlled by a team on board a specialist ship, spent more than 200 hours surveying the length and breadth of the wreck.

They took more than 700,000 images from every angle, creating an exact 3D reconstruction.
Technology amazes me more with the dawning of every new day......Ben

Pretty amazing they can take pictures that deep in the dark. Even more amazing is taking that number of pictures is such a short time in that environment.

A sidenote to the Titanic history I had not heard...This man had two connections to the doomed ship, first as the ship's telegrapher sent out the first distress signals:
But among the first to respond was an amateur radio operator some 3,000 miles (4,800km) away in south Wales.

Self-taught Arthur Moore received the signal at his homemade station in Blackwood, Caerphilly county.
But after reporting the message to disbelieving authorities he could do nothing further...Yet 73 years later, long after his death, his legacy reached down to the sunken hulk:
And while the radio enthusiast could do nothing to help those onboard the Titanic, he went on to pioneer an early form of sonar technology which helped discover its resting place decades later.
The rest of his story is nothing short of jawdropping......Ben

An excellent topic and points, my friends.

I keep hoping one of the new Titanic reproductions/recreations survives. Wifey and I would love to sail on such a ship.
