    Update

My wife is out of surgery after 11 hours. They are bandaging her now which will take an hour and then move her to ICU. They will keep her sedated until tomorrow.

The surgeon said all went as expected and there were no surprises.

It has been a long day that began at 3 am to be here at 5:30.

Not to worry Dave . Along with the skill of the surgeons , I sent a few personal messages to the Man upstairs . I will continue until you say all is well .

    Thanks all

I never saw my wife---they finished the bandaging about 7:30----and off she went to ICU, never passed through the recovery room and didn't get the $200 for passing GO! I didn't exist any longer and no one told me where she went!

Tomorrow they "wake her up" and I'll try to find her!

I did find her this morning. I talked to her ICU nurse. She is now stable and beginning to move a bit as they reduce the sedation drugs. They gave her a transfusion over night to help stabilize her blood pressure. They will not remove the breathing tube until she is fully awake.

I have to offer kudos to "live" people. My search to find her became bogged down in endless loops of "automated unintelligence", but once I broke out and found a HI (Human Intelligence) things moved along quickly--- I had called the wrong hospital in this "megatropolis" of hospitals surrounding U of Penn! But one live person set me on the right trail

Thanks everyone---but we have hit a bit of a speed bump. They see a foreign object in her right pulmonary artery----they think it might have come from the anesthesiologists but are not sure. They are putting together a team to go in tomorrow morning and hopefully remove it. The vascular surgeon I just talked to seems confident he can get it---I pray he can.
They will probably go in a vein in her groin and travel around to end up in the correct place.

I had that procedure with installing a stent several years back...I stayed awake while I watched it on TV...It's very common, and not worrisome at all...Keep us informed......Ben

I continue to be amazed by our huge gains in medical practice/technology. And when people like Dave's Wife benefits - it becomes reality.
