Earlville, N.Y. — A Central New York funeral home and crematorium in business for 40 years is a total loss after a fire Tuesday night, an official said.
The Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home at 3 Preston St. in the Village of Earlville caught fire at 10:30 p.m., said Madison County Fire Coordinator Doug Shattuck.
The fire department found heavy smoke coming from the roof, Shattuck said.
A video shows flames and smoke spilling from the roof of the building.
It took an hour to get the fire under control, he said.
The building had heavy damage, Shattuck said. There were no injuries, he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The funeral home had been in business for 40 years, starting in 1983, he said.
