Not to sound hokey---but I do greet each day in an almost ritualistic manner now that I am home all the time.

I first make my coffee (after a nature stop) and then sit down at the kitchen table---facing a glass wall looking out the back toward the barn. I begin my morning prayer by looking at and actually seeing what is before me. I begin with the sky and then the trees and field---if it is windy, snowing, raining, foggy---all of those things are included in what I "see" before me. It is my way of "unfolding the day" gently---but with full eye contact.

I continue to "see" my world with my eyes wide open as I begin my morning meditation and coffee. The day has no reason to rebel against me for I am grateful for whatever the day offers.

I make a conscious decision to gently and thankfully "carpe diem".
