Happy Birthday PA
Our fair commonweath turns 342 years old on Sunday..........
March 12 is Charter Day, the date in 1681 that England’s King Charles II granted a charter to William Penn, creating Pennsylvania ("Penn's Woods.")
To celebrate, the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission and the Pennsylvania State Archives will have William Penn’s original charter on display at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 North St., Harrisburg. It's a rare sight, and you can catch it until March 17. Check the museum's website for hours.
My family bought the original farm (160 acres) from one of Wm Penn's sons in 1718, located about 7 miles from where I sit----we didn't get very far
