Too good an issue to solve

Watching the immigration battles, it seems no one really wants to actually try to solve it. Too many people see it as a vehicle to get elected. Solving it would be counterproductive.

Latest is the promised impeachment of the Homeland Security head. This is performative politics. It does nothing to solve the issues at the border, which could be solved through legislation if anyone was really interested in that. Kind of like abortion. Dems had 50 years to pass legislation guaranteeing it to women if they had truly wanted to settle the issue. They never did because it was too valuable for elections.

No one is, so the signaling and posing continues, while human beings at the border suffer.

I agree with what you've stated and would add that the suffering is not limited to the immigrants at the border It extends to our own citizens.
OPINION....a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
