    Question

Just read that there are twenty Repbs. a definite NO on McCarthy as speaker .

What are the chances that a split vote will allow a Dem. to once again be elected Speaker which would neuter the Rs majority .
Individual rights are protected only as long as they don't conflict with the desires of the state .

As splintered as the rino herd is---I think anything is possible. I also think that there are a few remaining Republicans that are thinking this is the time to stand up against the rinos. The margin is tiny between the two sides.

BUT----don't sell the "silly putty" running for the gavel to not come up with some maneuver to claim the office.

Maybe they will be forced to elect a consensus speaker that a majority of congress critters on both sides can work with. Wouldn't that be a novel idea!

    Assume a can opener.

The term "consensus" is what that comment relies upon. There are too many members who would rather destroy everything rather than give an inch on anything.

Well, that's Constitutionally possible, but have we ever had a non-member Speaker?

[on edit] No, it has never happened.

A consensus speaker.. Like Dennis Hassard.. everything was great until we found out that he was “a diddler “.. oops..

But he was a good choice, before we “knew”..
