    Founders Day...

    I was not here for the inaugural post on this forum, and therefore I'm unsure of its exact beginning date...One thing I am sure of is the identity of our founder, therefore I'm using the date noted on his profile as his join date to say, "Thank you, Cap'n Mike, for giving us this platform to come together, and speak our minds!"......

    We will consider this our birthdate here, and today is our coming-of-age date as we are now 21 years old...Throughout the years we may have had our share of squabbles and disagreements, however we still gather here to discuss the events of the day and celebrate those of the past...Cake and refreshments will be served following the scheduled speeches from the usual suspects......Ben

    Cool. We can now legally drink while working on Cracker Barrel posts.

    Except in 5 Texas counties: Borden, Kent, Roberts, Hemphill, and Throckmorton. Their citizens probably live longer (though sadder).

    Think I was late to the start, but cheers to Mike for keeping this going.

    Hats off to our missing brothers, may we meet again.

    Not sure how long I've been around here on and off but not as long as almost everybody else around here. I certainly enjoy the site.

    For those of us that have been here a while and might be feeling the years a bit more than we did when we started:

    "You are old, father William," the young man said,
    "And your hair has become very white;
    And yet you incessantly stand on your head —
    Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

    "In my youth," father William replied to his son,
    "I feared it would injure the brain;
    But now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
    Why, I do it again and again."

    "You are old," said the youth, "as I mentioned before,
    And have grown most uncommonly fat;
    Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door —
    Pray, what is the reason of that?"

    "In my youth," said the sage, as he shook his grey locks,
    "I kept all my limbs very supple
    By the use of this ointment — one shilling the box —
    Allow me to sell you a couple."

    "You are old," said the youth, "and your jaws are too weak
    For anything tougher than suet;
    Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak —
    Pray, how did you manage to do it?"

    "In my youth," said his father, "I took to the law,
    And argued each case with my wife;
    And the muscular strength, which it gave to my jaw,
    Has lasted the rest of my life."

    "You are old," said the youth; one would hardly suppose
    That your eye was as steady as ever;
    Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose —
    What made you so awfully clever?"

    "I have answered three questions, and that is enough,"
    Said his father; "don't give yourself airs!
    Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
    Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!"

    "That is not said right," said the Caterpillar.
    "Not quite right, I'm afraid," said Alice timidly;
    "some of the words have got altered."
    "It is wrong from beginning to end,"
    said the Caterpillar decidedly, and
    there was silence for some minutes.

    I can relate to the white hair...Every morning when I shave, some old wrinkled, white-haired dude stands in my mirror, and I can't even see where the razor is...And can't even tell if my glossy black hair is parted on the right side......Ben

    While renewing my CCP the deputy was asking me questions and filling out the paper work: color of eyes, blue I said, color of hair, brown I said----at which the deputy looked up and said----"so you wanna stay with brown hey?"

    Yeah, I'm fortunate to still hair most of my hair. Now, that's something, considering both Maternal and Paternal Grandfathers were bald in their 40's.

    When I was a child my brother and sister and I saved up our dog's hair to make our grandfathers a wig. I doubt they thought it was cute.
