Cops are getting murdered everyday. But it doesn't seem all that important unless a political issue can be made out of it. I'm glad the perp got popped by the FBI today. My fear is anything and everything that happens now will be attributed to the dreaded white supremacist, Nazi following, white redneck deplorables. That's what the left wants you to think but what is the truth?

I had the same reaction as you did, Honda, on a different subject - pedophile Catholic priests. It seemed that once the first stories got out, the salacious nature of the issue grabbed hold of the media and everywhere, people were coming out of the woodwork with stories about their abuse by priests. I felt ganged up upon as a Catholic and blamed the media for sensationalizing the issue.

After a while, though, I stopped and considered that the problem wasn't the media, it was the pedophile priests. If they hadn't preyed on children, there would be no story. I think the same is true here. There is a faction of conservatives that are nut jobs. They are in the cult of Trump, they are violent, many are fascist and racist. The problem isn't the media. The problem is THEM!!!

The answer for pedophile priests was to adopt measures to rout them out. We are still working on that. Not every bishop has received the memo. But we are trying. Recognizing just who the real problem was, was a big start. It wasn't the media. It was the priests.

BUT , Kevin , I think that the media with slanted and over hyped 24 hour news blurbs about ANY subject may just be the catalyst that pushes someone who is on the edge to go the the violence side rather than a more sensible non violent reaction .

Lets face it . If you watch one " news cast " there is no reason to bother with any more since it is just a repeat . Personally , I watch one around noon and another about 9:00 PM to see if there has been anything new. I also watch a different channel each time . But , as you have probably surmised , I think Fox news is slightly less slanted than some of the others .

The media can shape beliefs about a subject, certainly, but choosing to act on those beliefs is an individual choice. Every time. If you cannot control your emotions, you do not belong out without a keeper.

The only exception I can think of is if the media is advocating violence, deliberately trying to agitate people and suggesting violence as an outlet for the resulting anger. Doing that means that the media would share responsibility for the events that followed. The same is true for individuals who deliberately stoke anger and whip a crowd up and suggest violence as a legitimate expression of those emotions. Which, by the way, is precisely what Trump did on January 6.

I think it is probably more accurate to say that you favor the slant Fox News has. Fox News itself, in legal proceedings, has described itself as an entertainment source, not a news source. Fair and balanced is a slogan, not a promise.

This clown needs to be secured in a safe place without outside contact. He is a huge national security risk.

While the world was shocked after The Washington Post dropped the bombshell report that the FBI was searching Mar-a-Lago for nuclear weapons documents, some national security experts were also shocked that "signals intelligence" was recovered from Donald Trump's Florida home.

"Former senior intelligence officials said in interviews that during the Trump administration, highly classified intelligence about sensitive topics, including intelligence-gathering on Iran, was routinely mishandled," the newspaper reported. "One former official said the most highly classified information often ended up in the hands of personnel who didn’t appear to have a need to possess it or weren’t authorized to read it. That former official also said signals intelligence — intercepted electronic communications like emails and phone calls of foreign leaders — was among the type of information that often ended up with unauthorized personnel. Such intercepts are among the most closely guarded secrets because of what they can reveal about how the United States has penetrated foreign governments."

That pattern may not have ended when Trump left the White House after losing the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden.

"A person familiar with the inventory of 15 boxes taken from Mar-a-Lago in January indicated that signals intelligence material was included in them," the newspaper reported. "The precise nature of the information was unclear."

Former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal tweeted, "Signals intelligence (like electronic intercepts) are some of the most sensitive and secretive material in the US."

"There are a host of special markings and protections on every such document," Katyal noted.

The fact signals intelligence was reportedly recovered at Mar-a-Lago shocked national security professionals.

Retired USAF Gen. Michael Hayden, who served as director of the NSA and CIA, simply tweeted, "Jesus Christ."

Bill Kristol, who served as Vice President Dan Quayle's chief of staff, offered his analysis.

"It’s been a while since I was in government, but signals intelligence—man, you are really not supposed to mess around with that," he wrote.

He wondered if it might be connected to Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"People ask why Trump would keep docs," he added. "Plenty of possible reasons. E.g.—and this example is pure speculation: Signals intel on MBS and [Jamal] Khashoggi, or on Saudi nukes, are the kind of docs you’d want in case you had to remind the Saudis to keep the $ coming."

Historian Claire Potter wrote, "If it was you or I who, and not Trump, who were in possession of top secret documents about nuclear weapons, or signals intel--well, you or I would be in handcuffs in a very bright room with glam rock playing in our ears. Yet he plays the victim."

Journalist Kurt Eichenwald wrote, "I never thought there was anything left that Trump could do that could shock me. But THIS? He took nuclear weapons and signals intel documents to his goddamn golf resort? Ok, I will finally say it. Lock him up."

Former Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes was asked about the reporting during an interview with MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell.

Rhodes said, "I keep coming back to the fact that — how unusual, how remarkably unusual it would be for anybody to be keeping this information, frankly even like while you are in the White House. It's not like you need to keep records of the stuff if you are the president of the United States."

The man continues to be a clear and present danger to this country and needs to be stopped. We have seen on Jan 6th that he has no scruples, he is a man without allegiance to this country and cares only about himself.

We need to neutralize him---and sooner rather than latter. It has to be done in a way that he cannot carry the cloak of martyrdom with him.

We have people in this country who are talking loudly about a civil war----we would be foolish to regard that as just "talk".

Doesn't matter. He's a victim and please send in some more money to help him fight those FBI socialists.

I find it hard to believe #45 did not think about keeping classified documents through. Heck, he knew he was being investigated - yet he still did it. One has to wonder why. Surely, someone in his orbit would have said, "Dude, it's not legal to have those. Why didn't you just give them back when they came for the others?"

Because he doesn't recognize any authority higher than himself. It is very simple.

He is entitled to do whatever he wants. He was entitled to win the 2020 election. He was entitled to those votes in Georgia. He was entitled to value his real estate any way he wanted. He was entitled to handle information any way he wanted because he was the President.

The first month he was there, he was like a deer in the headlights. Then he got a whiff of the power the office has and it was like crack cocaine to him. Given his personality, it was gas on a fire. He is the President and the President, to his childish mind, is a King and kings do whatever the hell they want. They do NOT allow anyone to tell them what to do.

It is who he is, at heart. A two year old child.

I found this interesting----from trump's niece Mary Trump:

“Garland is playing chess. Donald can only play checkers. So, he’s being outmaneuvered,” she added. “He’s also gotten tripped up. It never occurred to Donald that somebody who looks like Merrick Garland and talks like Merrick Garland is actually a ninja.”

In another stunning display of her political prowess and her amazing grasp of legal matters, MTG has filed articles of impeachment against Merrick Garland for political persecution of Trump.
