    The State Flower of Texas

Sadly, they out number the Blue Bonnets. Even worse, they know no seasons and bloom state wide, year-round.

We're seeing more of them here too, most of it financed by the Feds to disperse funds.

It is always like that here. IH45 & IH10 in the Houston area have been under construction for as long as I can remember.

I was a little over a year old when construction began on the Gulf Freeway in Houston...I'm told some of the first crewmen on the job were recent HS graduates, many of which retired still building, adding, changing and modifying the same stretch of highway...Today their great-grandchildren look forward to their own retirements from the same never-ending project......Ben

The best thing that happened to our highway system was the 2002 Winter Olympics. The Feds literally spent billions to replace I-15, our central transportation corridor. I got used to using local streets instead of the freeway - and still do, unless I'm going out of town.

Driving around SLC is like driving around Chicago, never ending construction. Get done and then come back and add two more lanes, get done and come back and add two more lanes.....

I had a licensed chauffer pick me up and drive me around during my one stay in SLC...The personal service included lunch at a steakhouse, and a guided tour of the state capitol including the governor's private office, the killing floor where the representatives and senators hashed out new laws, and a private showing of the personal secret refrigerated Coors vault in the office of one of the highly placed (but unnamed here) advisors to the governor...I was impressed......Ben
