Yeah and I would love to eat in that market. That was funny as hell when the first one blew up on the ground. That thing's a monster.

That sucker weighs 926 pounds - which is a heck of a lot of fireworks to launch into the sky. They'll be hoping it explodes up there, 'cause if it comes down un-exploded, it'll crush whatever it hits.

i used to do pyrotechnics shows for atlas. i thoroughly enjoyed it! biggest thing i ever set off was a 15" mortar, the concussion from that thing was huge! i can't imagine what this thing can do, but i want to see it up close and in person.

Does that have any connection to Atlas Powder, now ICI Americas?

Cool. There's plenty of stuff online about Atlas Powder, and how the company was formed.

I did see Atlas Pyro trying to find the answer myself---but also failed in that.

Atlas Powder had a plant near Tamaqua and we used a lot of their powder in the quarry where I worked. We did not like using it---we called it headache powder because every time we used it we would get a headache. Years latter I was working on a nitroglycerin plant in Baraboo WI and learned much more about nitroglycerin. It causes the blood vessels to dilate which in turn caused the problem. Not all powders had the same effect. At the time we thought it was from the smell in the air after a shot-----but now I expect it might have been from handling it since nitro can be absorbed through the skin.

Reminds me of my shop days. We used a chemical called Tri-Clor to hot-dip greasy parts. Every time I used it, I'd hear music and helicopters. Turns out, the darned stuff was potentially deadly when inhaled. Apparently, it was also an anesthetic.
