With this kind of move and, if it's successful, we are one step closer to having EV's become the vehicle of the masses. I'd like to say that pleases me, but I'll wait to see how it goes. I really like gasoline and Diesel engines and I'll have to see if I miss them or not.

I have an electric golf cart I use to get around the country estate (Ben's term, not mine). I really like how quiet it is and how you don't have to start and stop an engine to make it go. Just put the forward/reverse switch in the proper position, press the accelerator and it goes. Quietly. No messy stinky gasoline to mess with, just plug it in every now and then and I'm good to go.

I don't know how that would work out with a daily driver pickup truck, though. Range is the part that worries me almost as much as replacing the batteries. I need to replace the golf cart batteries soon at a cost of about $700. I suspect replacing the batteries on an electric pickup truck just might break the bank.

Range is my biggest concern. I'm a little less concerned by the batteries since most companies now are giving very long warranties up to 10 years. I know Toyota I think right now gives 8 years. But yes if you ever decided to replace them at least at this point in time the cost is prohibitive. Hopefully with increased technology the prices will come down.

I wonder what the trade in value would be on an electric vehicle nearing the battery end of life?
