I understand that "perfect" is a requirement
...but would that not require the judgement be made by an equal---a perfect judge?
I have long been both enamored by and at the same time confused by Thomas Jefferson. On one hand he is larger than life and on the other a confused and wayward soul. He fails the perfection test----but even with that he holds great responsibility for what this nation is.
If perfection is the standard then we can simply remove all monuments in honor of our history and historical figures.
Damn----I wonder who is going to be tasked with taking out Mt Rushmore?
From today's NYT:
New York City officials opted to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall. They did not decide where to put it.
