    Liquid Piston Engine

Other than the plea for money , the vid shows an interesting new engine type .

I might be wrong but that sure looks like a Wankel engine---last tried in production by Mazda---now with a new name

Yeah, they do call it a "rotary" engine - but I'm no engineer who can fathom the difference.

What got my attention is they say it's 30% more efficient than a Diesel. I'm interested.

If the Wankel engine is operational, is it wanking?

IF , BIG IF , it is proven to be a viable engine , it will revolutionize many industries.

Therein lies the conundrum, the Wankel engine was viable but it didn't work out. It was fast as heck though.

A friend had a Mazda rotary. Red line was like a zillion rpm’s. If they just coulda wrung some ponies out of the design.

I went to the Liquid Piston site to learn about the technology. They say many times that this is not a Wankel engine - different architecture, different thermodynamics, whatever. I was interested in the idea of an eccentric rotor. How does that not fly apart from the forces it generates? Cool idea, though.
