I have been about 30’ inside an underground coal mine (we built the portal and conveyors and such). It was a nasty place and was told it was worse the deeper you went. Nothing like a cave, which I think are cool.

We have a "public" coal mine near by. It is rated as one of the best tourist attractions in the State. I can't count the number of times we have been there with a wide group of friends and family. I think I could give the tour---but not really---the tour guides are, for the most part, retired coal miners---they are the real deal.
