    Peppers ahoy

    Just potted this years pepper varieties. I may regret this but

    a jalapeno is 2500 to 8000 scoville units for a reference point


    regular habanero is 300,000 (1 plant)
    Carribean red hot habanero is 300-445,000 (1 plant)
    Chocolate habanero is 425-577,000 (1 Plant)
    The Trinidad Scorpion is the Mack Daddy at up to 2,000,000 scoville units (2 plants)

    A word of caution: to assure you get what you have bargained for you need to keep the plants remote from each other to prevent cross pollinating each other. In the event they do, your "hots" will diminish the heat of your "super hots" and vice versa--the end result is none will have the properties you expect.

    My Amish green grocer has been growing chocolate habaneros for the past two years. I find them to have an earthy sweet taste not found in other family members---I like them
