Anyplace on earth. Or any place in three dimensional space. The wording is crucial. After you walk one mile north, you then return to your original spot, your fourth stop on your journey.

Approx 1.16 miles from the South Pole.
Walk south (towards the pole) 1 mile. You are ~0.16 miles from the pole. Turn 90 degrees. Walk west in a circle around the pole, in effect circumnavigating the globe at that longitude. The circle will be one mile in circumference. Turn and head north. You will return to your starting point.
