    Election Rules

This election once again points out what a mess our elections are. We cannot afford to have 50 different sets of rules for national elections. I guess that really only applies to presidential elections since that is the only truely national election. So, I think we need federal rules on how presidential elections are run. Rules that apply to all 50 states so that we don't have the circus that election has become.

As far as how all of the other elections are run, leave that to the states to screw up as they see fit. And I assure you they will continue to screw them up until the voters have had enough and revolt.

The gov sets the date the states determine how their people get to vote. All votes have to be certified by Dec 14th.

Works fine except in the instant gratification era we now become used to.

Now that mail in voting was done the states with still counting ballots are controlled by Republican's and didn't want any earlier vote counting done. They also controlled where election boxes were going to be placed, date to except mail-in ballots, etc.... I just hope some of those dates didn't cut out military personnel in getting them back in time.

If every state did it exactly the same there would be a better opportunity for fraud. With everyone doing it by their own rules what works to commit fraud in one state may not in the others.

but I agree. Someone need to clean up the sh!t show..

If this is what we can expect in the future, I'm done with it. It is a failure that will ultimately bring us down.

You'll get no argument from me. Not to pick on Texas---but the "rule" of only one drop box per county just might have won the dumb ass of the election stunt to limit voting.

An unrelated story that has come to my mind as I try to follow the twists and turns of this election takes me back to 2000. I had voted for GWB via absentee ballot and found myself in Germany on election day. That night---and 6 hours ahead I spent the entire night watching the returns---which for me began at midnight---and by morning I didn't know anything more than I did the night before----and I wasn't to find out who won until the SCOTUS "voted". I'm about as sleep deprived with this one as I was in 2000.

That stunt cost the governor any chance of receiving a vote from me in the future. Frickin' idiot!

    I agree something needs done.

My other question is why every time we have one of these "contested" states it's ALWAYS the last votes are predominantly democrats? You NEVER hear that the democrat lead is shrinking.

Waiting on the democrat stragglers AGAIN. These are the people who used to complain about me starting things on time.

These idiots vote. I'm strongly opposed to "get out the vote" efforts. We have enough idiots voting.
