Last weekend fishing in the Sierras this year

Season will close in two weeks. It's 15* this morning and the river has a thin layer of ice. Had a blast catching trout on nymphs yesterday

Just curious, why is there a fishing season? Pressure on the resource?

I love the rivers this time of year.

Pressure on the resource. Is part of it. Low water condition s make it easy for poachers with dip nets. But mainly I think it is to keep stupid people from dying in the mountain winter environment when the storms hit.

If it were not illegal I would have to eat one or two of those a year. For watever reason it does not bother me near as much to eat a fish than it does to eat a mammal.

I hear you on keeping the idiots out of the woods........unfortunately onerous rules for the "common good" are all the rage these days. I despise the nanny state.

I should add that I despise idiots too. I've never felt so alone
