An interesting article about the battle of Verdun.
ArticleIt is sobering to reflect that more men were killed and wounded at Verdun than the entire U.S. Army lost on both fronts of World War II.

The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible - Arthur C. Clarke

Brits made a documentary film on the 100th anniversary .. They Shall Not Grow Old.. actual footage and stills edited by the team that made the Lord of The Rings films.. if you have a chance to view it.. it is great..

I have looked for They Shall Not Grow Old recently based on glowing reviews. I looked at Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu, but could not find it available. If I missed it, would someone post a streaming access. The film attempts to removed the early film effects that make the people look like unrelatable cartoon stick people and colorizes some of it. Makes the horror of that war more real and understandable, I imagine.
Incidentally, I am watching a fine colorized film series on WWII on Netflix now. I can’t wait to see who wins.
