    The end of covid-19

....was just around the corner per trump---I wonder which corner he was talking about.

Apparently hydroxychloroquine failed, as the medical experts have cautioned all along.

May trump and the First Lady recover quickly.

Yes, I agree with whoever in the NYT said this is the greatest threat to the Presidency since Reagan was shot.

What will be the verdict on HCQ (?) if he turns out to be asymptomatic? I'm interested to see this storyline evolve.

Regardless, I hope they recover well. Same as for everyone.

Think we all expected that as he was careless avoiding it.

Yeah, they'll laugh and go on and on about how careless he was by not wearing a mask, all the while ignoring the number of people who wore masks religiously and still got it.

Hopefully it's a mild case and they recover. The bigger questions are the what if it gets worse.

Not unprecedented — the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, had a serious case.

He is being transferred to Walter Reed now.
I wish him well, he will have better care there than at the White House.

Well as a guy that spent a little over a day in a ICU/Covid ward last weekend I can say there's no way they are going to turn the fan off or allow any one in other than trained staff into the room. So I'll say that's a very lonely feeling and just as you start getting some rest there will be someone coming in to check on you or taking blood, etc.

While hoping it's a mild case one does wonder why the "extra" precautions it does make you feel there's more to the story.

The President is on his way to the hospital.. wish him well..

Walter Reed is the new name of Bethesda Naval Hospital.. The original Walter reed was several miles South East on Georgia Avenue in The District, it was closed (BRACed) and the name moved to Bethesda... the current Walter Reed is not the same Walter Reed that was involved in a patient care scandal 10 or so years ago..

My dad spent two month or so in Bethesda Naval in the late 90’s.. there has been much construction since I was roaming the halls..

The VIP quartet were formally located in the old tower.. there is now a new building on the south side of the hospital, news reports hint that the new building is the VIP suite..

Just an FYI.. all local news here..

Thanks for that information, Sandman. I had no idea the hospitals had changed.

Why are they making a big deal out of the fact that he may have needed supplemental oxygen? Effing Doc was dodging the questions... Idiot, it becomes obvious what the answer is after you dodge it ...I hate morons..

You can't believe anything anyone says about Trump's illness.

Obviously the lies haven't taken a break

I remain impressed by how poorly organized they are---all you need do to change the narrative is ask someone else. Yesterday's "unidentified source" contradicting the doctor turned out to be Meadows.

Just minutes after the president’s doctors painted a rosy picture of his condition on television, Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, gave reporters outside Walter Reed National Military Medical Center a far more sober assessment off camera, calling Mr. Trump’s vital signs worrisome and warning that the next two days would be pivotal to the outcome of the illness.

“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care,” Mr. Meadows told the reporters, asking not to be identified by name. “We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.

In keeping with the ground rules he had set, Mr. Meadows’s remarks were attributed, in a pool report sent to White House journalists, to a person familiar with the president’s health. But a video posted online captured Mr. Meadows approaching the pool reporters outside Walter Reed after the doctors’ televised briefing and asking to speak off the record, making it clear who the unnamed source was.”

President Trump took HCQ for a short time in May with his doctor issuing a statement, “White House doctor Sean P. Conley said that after numerous discussions about hydroxychloroquine, he had concluded "the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks." He was not taking HCQ since including now, spokesman said. Maybe that was his problem. We will never know.

But there is a happier side — he, or whomever would have paid his drug bill outside his insurance formulary, saved the $1.35/wk expense that regimen would have cost @ $0.65 for HCQ once per week and $0.10 for zinc 7 times/wk.

I have to be cautious by admitting that, like much of POTUS’ medical history, we do not know if he had any adverse reaction to his taking the drug in May, such as upset stomach or an ultra-rare increased heart arrhythmia.
