If you look closely (you have to have it in full screen) at 23 seconds into the first video you can see something fly up in front of the lead engine---apparently a rail section.
Very interesting Ben--thank you. In the early 70's we lived close to a RR and one day the train ran off the track, the engine and about four cars. The RR Company (Reading) came with a recovery train. It was composed of an engine, a STEAM powered crane, a couple of gondola cars for rigging, a tank car to fuel the crane and three or four Pullman cars. Those were for the crew to sleep and eat and one or two had gear in them. They worked all night and within about 18 hours they cleaned up all the cars, laid new track and were gone.
