    Domicile defense

Got a question for all y'all lawyer types here. Are there any states that prohibit you from having a weapon IN YOUR DOMICILE for protection ?.

If it is permissible to have one then if you live on a boat, even tho you move it from state to state is it permissible to keep a weapon in your boat or even a mobile home if that is your primary residence ?.

O K , I guess that was two questions. SORRY
Individual rights are protected only as long as they don't conflict with the desires of the state .

Is your question — are there any states which require all citizens to seek permission and register all guns even if just in the home? If that is the question, I am not familiar with all the arcane laws pertaining to firearms in the country, but I have seen enough reported cases to think there are numerous states and other jurisdictions, which prohibit possession of unregistered guns, period.

I recall one infamous case in New York or New Jersey in which a man recently moved from another state and within a few days a perp broke in his house and attempted to rape his small daughter to which act the man retrieved his then unregistered pistol and shot the creep dead. The local DA then charged the man with illegal possession of a firearm. There were similar cases in Washington D.C.

This is not legal advice, but for me the only three states I would worry about having a gun in my home would be California, Massachusetts and New York. That may or may not be an all inclusive list. As far as boats no clue.

as far as I know here in California you can have a gun in your home as long as you are not a convicted felon, Domestic Abuser with a restraining order, and its not stolen or on the banned fire arms list. to take it out of the home it must be unloaded and the bullets kept in a different bag or box from the firearm and neither readily available while in your vehicle. In the woods you may open carry loaded

Registered? That's something we do with cars and race horses here in Kentucky..... other than that, we don't register anything.

    Does that include handguns?
