My worst two, a big bull caribou on the tundra. About a half mile to the lake shore. The tundra is extremely hard to walk on. It took me from about 10 am to dusk---I can't remember how many trips. I cut that up and put it into bags, the rib cage and most of the spine stayed where it dropped. You have to do a first class job---including taking out all the meat between the ribs. When the wardens fly over they want to see day light between the ribs of any carcass.
You cannot take the head or cape out until all the meat is gone.
The other, a bull moose---but I had help on that one. We quartered it plus cut the neck and head off. It was only about 200 yards through a clear cut to the road but there was a lot of taking turns! Both were done with a pack frame---I can't imagine doing it any other way.
