California Shows Where The Green New Deal Is Going

California has staked its future on a “green” electric grid in the future. As a windless heat wave hits the area in the last week and rolling blackouts close over the state because “renewable” and “reliable” are proving to be two separate things, Californians and observers everywhere are learning the follies of what the Green New Deal Democrats and Joe Biden are promising...or threatening, if you are like me —

As an adjunct to the rabid greenies’ demands, it is interesting to note their almost uniform rejection of nuclear power solutions...even the new types. Here they even resort to hiding who they are as they organize efforts to stop an advance —

Actually the independent grid operators did not follow the set rules and initiated rolling blackouts before the mandated set points.

I just wish the folks in California did not have to suffer through all those fires. This year it's not just California.

Billy, you know perfectly well that might upset the mating season for the crested titmouse...It's much more ecologically sound to let the homes of evil rich Republicans burn......Ben

I think those denizens of California paying near double the rates for their power yet are home in the dark might be rubbed the wrong way too even if they are not conservatives. Incompetence leading to inconvenience and a loss of a necessity seems to evoke that response. It’s almost as if some at the top didn’t know it gets dark every night and winds don’t blow at the most inconvenient times.

This is compounded by the fact that California killed 9 megawatts of natural gas electricity generation plants in the recent past.

The key is that California has made it impossible to replace the reliable sources it lost. Instead, it is concentrating exclusively on grossly expensive and unreliable wind and solar. It is undeniable that California’s power plan has fail where none others have, and it is not like the failures were not seen coming for a decade.

Now we have one of our national political parties promising to bring the same plan to the rest of the country by mandatory force.

Bingo. And, bashing the great state of California fits right in with their plan.

I think they'll soon see what a well-known California attorney by the name of Kamala Harris will do when Trump leaves the White House. I doubt very much our country will fail because of it.

California is a beautiful state and I have many friends, family, and former co-workers there. But when you are the 8th largest economy in the world (a few years ago-I don't do that gig anymore), you need to be careful not to bully your neighbors.

I am exactly half way between the Pacific and the Gulf Coast. The first time I took my kids to the beach, I chose Texas. There are fewer Californians there.

There is a reason Zonies and Utards have been talking about building a fence on their western flank for 50 years.

I saw a story yesterday that so many taxpayers are leaving that state, that they are now going to tax their income retroactively. That ought to set up some interesting legal cases.

Hey! I left CA in 1970 due to my family working in Utah. Doesn't count?

Hey LD Good to see you back

As for retroactively changing the tax law My CPA wife with a Masters in Tax and the North American Tax Manager for an International Corporation says it has never been done, and would be in most likely be inviolation of the constitution ( State and Federal) and that she has not heard of nor read of any such proposal
