    Thick

I post this here, since such a seemingly apolitical subject such as face masks has become infected with politics.

Thick works both ways in our age of craziness —

Wisconsin state agency tells employees to wear masks during Zoom calls even if home alone.

Both of the above are over reactions..

Unlike Marion Florida.. you can not just walk into a police station here.. there is a bank window with slide drawer in the building entranceway doors into actual lobby are locked..

That is a better hit job than the NYT could have spun.

Here is the story in The Hill:

A Wisconsin state agency has required employees to wear masks while teleconferencing from home, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

A July 31 email sent to employees by the state’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reportedly reminded them that Gov. Tony Evers’s (D) mask mandate went into effect the next day.

Natural Resources Secretary Preston Cole said in the email that staff has to wear masks in DNR buildings and in virtual meetings, according to the Journal Sentinel.

“Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff,” Cole reportedly wrote. “Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”

The governor’s mask order requires face coverings to be worn in indoor public spaces, and does not include residencies.

Health experts say people should wear masks in their homes if they are living with people who are susceptible to serious illness from the coronavirus. But otherwise, they say, there isn’t much need to.

DNR spokesperson Megan Sheridan told McClatchy that the department wanted its employees to set an example for others by displaying their masks.
Had trump provided this same leadership we might not be having this discussion now.

You might want to take the time to read the directive from the State that perciptated this whine.

Whine, my ass, the directive of the agency head speaks for itself beyond what the governor’s order said.

To object to that is whining

Distinction without a difference. How would the staff know who is watching their little Zoomery?

I do this on a regular basis. I sit on the board of a public sewer and water authority. We have public meetings (since March) via Zoom. The public is invited. They have to go through the office manager to get the link for the onscreen meeting. They are invited to sit into the entire meeting or only to voice an issue. The board (we can see it on our screens) knows who is in the meeting. If a guest says something and has a camera linked in their picture comes up on the center portion of everyone else's screen. If they are connected only on audio there is a box on the border with their name and or number. This is being done all over the country for public meetings which require public openness. We have people who come every month and seldom if ever say anything

You have me there, I had never heard of Zoom until Flumania, but in order to follow the directive wouldn’t everyone on such an agency Zoom call have to wear a mask AT ALL TIMES just in case someone popped into the call? Stupid is as stupid does.

If that is an idea that wearing masks would somehow cure our ills, some reading on the efficacy of masks is in order.
Besides, didn’t Trump recommend wearing masks after CDC, NIH, WHO, and Fouci, et.al. changed their minds on them and started the browbeat to wear them? You’ll need to fill me in on the timeline of mask-or-no-mask musings because I don’t listen to the guy much either.

I already know how far that explanation will go---I'll pass

Not that easy.. depending on how the “zoom” (there are also other providers).. when invitations are issued the level of access may be controlled by the invitation password, IE: a board member has two way audio and video.. but the general public has receive only audio and video, questions are submitted via a texting feature.. there is also a mid level access where two way audio and video are available but the visitors audio and video transmit is controlled by the host..

So.. the civil servants wear their masks..

An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance.. and one leads by example..

Ad I’m not familiar with flumania.. We on the East Coast haven’t had flu season yet.. we are dreading it because we are still getting hammered by Covid-19..

Speak of the devil and he will make an appearance. Just as we open this can of worms, Mr. Biden proposes a Federal law mandating mask wearing.

    https://www.redstate.com/alexparker/...irus-pandemic/

The Command & Control Freaks can’t wait to get more powers over us.

Question: where does your exhaled breath with any virus it carries go with an ordinary mask on? Right, into the room just not at the same angle.

Next question: what is the efficacy of ordinary masks keeping virus particle from going into a wearer’s nose and mouth. Right, virtually none. Even N95 masks are ineffective against particles the size of virus. Read the warnings on the box!

That is why the CDC, WHO, NIH, Fauci and many rigorous studies found them worthless in a non-clinical setting before they switched advice just to make people think they were being safer.

I was not clear in my explanation. All the board members and staff are at their home.

I have been using the same platform for the business. I have not been to the office since mid-March. We meet 3x a week for 2 to 3 hours each.

This misinformation is why our infection numbers continue to grow..

We as a nation need to reeducate ourselves by listening to the scientists and not Talk radio/TV entertainers or politicians.
