    The grand liar

    ...gets a well deserved smack down

    From this morning's WSJ:

    Facebook Inc. FB +1.43% and Twitter Inc. TWTR +0.90% on Wednesday removed a video posted by President Trump in which he said children are “almost immune from this disease,” a claim that the companies said ran afoul their rules against harmful misinformation about Covid-19.

    The video clip—a portion of an interview aired on Fox News—attracted roughly 450,000 views on Facebook before it was taken down, according to CrowdTangle, a Facebook-owned analytics company. It also drew thousands of comments and was reshared nearly 2,000 times.

    The action marked the first time that Facebook removed Mr. Trump’s posts for violating its coronavirus misinformation rules, a Facebook spokesman said. “This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from COVID-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation,” the spokesman said.

    The same video was also shared by the Trump campaign’s account on Twitter and then reshared by Mr. Trump. Wednesday evening, Twitter said it removed the video for violating its rules against coronavirus misinformation and that the @TeamTrump account would have to remove the post before it could tweet again.

    I'm no longer sure how much of it is lies, how much is delusion and how much is just plain ignorance.

    It surely is amazing that the self professed smartest man in the entire world---no one has ever been smarter---is so darn ignorant

    I do have one reservation on the ignorance diagnoses---ignorant can be fixed, but in this case----not so much

    The statement that “children are almost immune from this disease,” is a fair interpretation of the facts established from my reading of them. Certainly, it is far from fair to have Twitter and Facebook take it upon themselves to be the arbiter of those facts. It is interesting to note that the hack at Twitter who took down the post, or whatever was done, was the former head publicity creep for the Kamala Harris Canpaign.

    One more reason I cancelled my Twitter account years ago and abhor any mention of what goes on there. Same for Facebook, but there is no denying they both have a huge and outsized influence on the public’s thoughts, therefore important what they pimp and what they cancel.
