The politics of this are stacked against the Republicans. Lots of financial misery out there. People want government to bail them out by a large margin. The Democrats did what they do — passed a $3,000,000,000,000 bill with little regard to consequences. If the Republicans do not feed the beast too, they will be held responsible, so they are trying to hold the bill to “only” ~$1,000,000,000,000 out the door. They have no bargaining power and will cave. What’s a few more trillion?
In the face of this Chi-Com caused misery, when Sen. Dianne Feinstein brazenly announces her support for the wonderful job the Red Chinese have been doing, you know the Lefties think they have us by the gonads.

For the record, a republican senator tried to push through a bill to extend the payments, but the democrats quashed the bill so that it wouldnt go through.

If Congress cannot compromise, Trump says he is going to “do something” unilaterally to block evictions and to divert money to unemployed. Under what law or authority does any government official have the unilateral power to obviate contracts and crush landlords or bestow funds on selected citizens? Oddly, one of the chief fears promoted by the Left is that Trump is becoming an authoritarian despot, yet demands he command the country to lock themselves in their homes. Now Trump is threatening to meet them on their own ground and do by command what they cannot do by legislation. The kicker is that should Trump do what he has warned, then the D’rats will be put in the position of filing a lawsuit (lawfare - their usual ploy), but how can they sue in opposition to an illegal act that serves their own constituency? They are on the horns of a dilemma. The politics of this one will be interesting to watch; the misery of people not so much.

Looks as if I may have underestimated the hatred for Trump deeply ingrained in the D’rats. Chuckie Schumer has announced that he will sue President Trump if he issues executive orders designed to give economic relief to those suffering effects from the Chi-Com Flu.

This Democrat plan to sue assures that Trump will issue such an order (which he does not have the power to do) just for the political optics of watching the Democrats showing there hearts are congealed around the concept that all good things must originate and ascribe to them alone.
