Mail in your un countable vote

Vote by mail. Lets assume I am a politicly active mail person. My route covers a large area and I drive it every day. Along the route I see lawn signs for different politicians and note stickers on cars that give me an indication of that persons political leaning.

Come voting time , I decide to give a little help to my favorite pol. as I travel my route , when I get a ballot from a home which I think opposes my preferred candidate I simply set it aside and when I get home drop it in the burn bin. POOF I have just given MY pick another 20 or so votes. [ the number is up to your imagination .]

Anyone who thinks that vote by mail is not an invitation for fraud is living in a dream world.

It would take a postal employee who was extremely dissatisfied with their preferred candidate's chances in an upcoming election to risk dismissal from an otherwise un-fireable job and even prison time for the benefit of a lousy politician who doesn't care whether that person lives or dies...I'm not saying it hasn't happened or won't happen, just that the percentages work against anyone thinking about it...

And considering the quality of local politicians here trying either to get elected or re-elected, I'd be very surprised if a local letter carrier would be that stupid...We have a district judge candidate who was charged with criminal mischief for egging a county official's car, then decided to get caught on video stealing others' doorhangers and replacing them with his own while out canvassing for votes...All this was in the current campaign...I know this one personally, and I'm not surprised at his actions, nor his stupidity...

More recently, we have a Conroe city councilman who was first arrested for DWI, then was arrested for harassment by being dumb enough to leave a threatening message on another enemy's answering machine...I recall another incident with him involved in a fistfight in a bar, where he managed to avoid arrest, but not injury...The accounting was written up here in a story about one of his arrests...This one was once my customer at the gun store, but I recall little about him otherwise...He's running for re-election this year...

I can't imagine anyone risking anything, especially employment and freedom for these, or any other worthless politicians...And that includes all of them......Ben

Let us assume a couple of things.

If you are talking about an average mail carrier we get this:

A walking route within an older neighborhood? 400 or so.

A driving route in the suburbs? 150 to 200.
Now if in a major city it could be one or more apt buildings.

So assuming you place it in the mail box and the guy really wants to screw with the election and throws yours away. Out of the stops he makes how many is he going to throw away? 400, 150, 200 or more if one thinks everyone is going to vote. Maybe double that if there are 2 voters in the house.

So the dishonest mail carrier may have destroyed x amount and is that really going to turn an election? Maybe in some small city where it does come down to 1 or so votes, but in a major election where winners are in the thousands difference no.

So, you are saying election fraud and mail theft are ok?

City Hall has a drive through drop box for Treasure, Commissioner of Revenue and Elections..

But because our mail route was a training route for newbies, we drop anything important at the post office drive through..

I don’t have a problem with the postal service, my mail gets here eventually and have never had anything lost that was mailed at the Post Office.

As an added bonus of living on a training route.. we’ve met the couple who live a block over with our same house number ..

I don't have a problem with it either.

This scenario is no different than all the rest, they are simply red herrings trumped up to cover organized efforts to disenfranchise the poor, and specifically the black vote.

If those who advance these arguments had any integrity they would drop the smoke screen and argue the root issue and explain how denying the vote to someone you don't like is acceptable.

Remember those documented times those “disenfranchised black voters” registered a turnout last presidential election of something over 100% of the eligible voters in certain precincts of Philadelphia and Detroit? And the oddest thing was that every single vote was for a straight Democrat ticket. Think of the odds.

Comprehension not your thing either? By "us" You clearly meant you.

Yet another example of the naivety of those of you who depend on government for your every need. Now you can't even vote. Perfect.
