Biden All In For Reparations If Native Americans Included

All he needs is for a commission to tell him how much and who gets the haul —

Biden's going to be all in on whatever "they" tell him to be. The poor guy can't put together a sentence I don't know who is worse him or Pelosi. I don't fault them, they are elderly and those issues come with age. I fault the voting public for putting them there or in Biden's case making him the candidate.

Here we go...head of some outfit named Christianity Today calls for reparations for Black Americans because of the sins of slavery and Christian churches turning a blind eye. I want in because my Huegnot ancestors were persecuted, robbed, murdered and banished from France by Roman Catholic enforcers in the 15th-16th centuries. The interest alone must be awesome.

Since Joe introduced us to the Hodge twins in a different post, I have watched some more of their videos. I like these guys!

Here is what they have to say about reparations:

This bill establishes the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans. The commission shall examine slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies. Among other requirements, the commission shall identify (1) the role of federal and state governments in supporting the institution of slavery, (2) forms of discrimination in the public and private sectors against freed slaves and their descendants, and (3) lingering negative effects of slavery on living African-Americans and society.

Slavery was and is reprehensible we modern civilized people have come to reason...and well so. That is a realatively recent revelation. It has existed probably as long as hominids have been around. It still exists in large areas of the world, most especially in Africa, then Asia. I would wager that the Cro-Magnons enslaved the Neanderthals, when they could and vice versa. With that said, the fact is that without slavery, the African descendants seeking reparations would not be here to seek them rather than in Africa. Africans were not noted for their seafaring skills. Putting aside who kidnapped the original African slaves sent around the world, assessing the monetary values today of the practice here and now may be more complicated than first thought. One measure to determine that present value that has been proposed is “the difference between black’s average net worth in America versus black’s average net worth in Africa.” That would most obviously be a net minus and probably a pretty big one at that. This will not be proposed or discussed in Joe Biden’s Reparations Commission. Slavery was very bad for Blacks’ ancestors; very good for the present descendants. Neither can be denied.

So, the real issue would be a proposal to pay descendants for the miseries suffered by ancestors several generations removed from the benefits now actually enjoyed by people living. Of course any such payments might serve to assuage guilt feelings whites may harbor over wrongs their ancestors perpetrated, or in most cases other people’s ancestors perpetrated.

The Native Americans might have a better case.

Why the hell should anyone feel guilt over something their ancestors may or may not have done?

Our ancestors did what they did and we cannot be held accountable for their actions.

Might as well include the Mormons. I mean, they were run Out of Missouri because they were opposed to slavery, among other things. More than a few were murdered, Many were raped, and the church was forced to abandon one of their beliefs that was legal, at the time, just so their territory would not be militarily occupied and they could attain statehood, and what would amount to millions of dollars worth of property was forced to be abandoned, etc.

Everybody’s ancestors were abused by someone. How far back do we get to go to seek a reason for retribution and dinero?

Not so incidentally the subject of the original post starting the thread has a history of comments and thoughts on reparation demands —

...Mr. Biden told the People Paper, a Delaware-based weekly newspaper, in 1975: “I do not buy the concept, popular in the ‘60s, which said, ‘We have suppressed the black man for 300 years and the white man is now far ahead in the race for everything our society offers. In order to even the score, we must now give the black man a head start, or even hold the white man back, to even the race.’ I don’t buy that.
“I don’t feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather,” he continued at the time. “I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation. And I’ll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago.”...

Further Joe history with regard to reparations took place in last year’s debates when he was asked directly what “amends” would be appropriate to address our history of slavery, and was confronted with his 1975 words above, whereupon he launched into a typical “word salad” of bromides and bullshyte that ended with his infamous “feed your kids words from the record player” gaff. He never answered the question until this week when he went full reparations/pander happy.
