This Is How Crazy Things Have Gotten

Bret Baier apologized to the public for broadcasting facts that disturb Lefties. None have said the facts are, but publishing them apparently is...not only wrong, but terribly - egregiously - wrong.

Fox News apologized Saturday for how it displayed a chart correlating the stock market’s performance with the aftermath of the deaths of George Floyd, Martin Luther King Jr. and Michael Brown.

The graphic that aired Friday to illustrate market reactions to historic periods of civil unrest “should have never aired on television without full context. We apologize for the insensitivity of the image and take this issue seriously,” the cable channel said in a statement.

The chart included on “Special Report with Bret Baier” illustrated gains made by the S&P 500 index after King’s assassination in 1968; the Ferguson, Missouri, police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in 2014, and the May 25 death of Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody. It also measured the financial yardstick against the 1991 acquittal of Los Angeles police officers in the beating of Rodney King...

The chart was so horrendously graphic that apparently either Fox News has barred its use in articles thereby seeking to hide the ignominious disgrace of its network and save the mental stability of those who have yet to see the dangerous facts or the several article I read thought it so mortifying they would not reprint it. Fortunately, many Lefties, whose very souls were abused by the facts, printed screen shots of the horror on their outraged Twitter vomitings. Look here, but be forewarned that your consciousness may be abused by the truth, as theirs were —

    Insanity abounds everywhere...
Over half of the Minneapolis City Council members stood up on the stage to announce their intent to defund and dismantle the city’s police department. Almost everyone in the audience was on board with the idea.

A little video of the Minneapolis P.D. Chief outlining to the press what they do on a daily basis, when one of them upbraided him for taking a phone call, when he should have been at their beck and call —

As for the stock market---another prime example of crediting the occurrence of one thing to the occurrence of another---while never looking at all the influences. Statistics are the evil tools of the spin masters.

I hope the whole city is defunded, no more cops no more fire department, let it burn. Give it to the black lives matter crowd and watchhow fast it will all be gone.

When I heard and saw the stats my thoughts did not connect the rises a week later in attribution to the turbulent events, rather I thought that it seems remarkable that the Market did not think it mattered much in longer terms in all four episodes, when the rest of us thought them significant. The market is far from infallible, but it has an opinion and it is worth noting, not hiding.

It should also be mentioned that no where in the piece did anyone on the show voice an opinion of what the facts meant...they left that to the viewer. Having seen it in real time, I did not even conceive of the uproar it would caused. Still think the opprobrium is totally nutz and apology crazy. When you hate dissemination of facts, you have abandoned the basis of reason.

What an odd statement for an engineer to make. Facts are facts. Analysis is where it becomes personal. The fact is that stocks rallied around the time of these events. Is there any proof the actions are unrelated? Are you guilty of what you bemoan?

The recovery of the stock market, like most everything was not the result of a single event or influence. To ascribe it as such is folly.

So, you conclude from the data that there is no racism at the trading desks? Same same if you ask me.

I consider the relationship to be purely coincidental. I haven't drawn a conclusion one way or another. I would be interested to know whether and what the stock market relationship to race riots might be, if any.

Don't pretend you don't like to argue about silly things.

I might be inclined to answer that if you could point out were I said that.
