That was certainly interesting. I wonder if it is true or just another commentator's spin?
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible - Arthur C. Clarke
I’ve read several articles with the same statistics, but this was the first that ran down the circumstances of the 10 deaths in 2019. “Unarmed” does not necessarily mean passive victims, as several tried to run over the officer(s) before they were killed or were in fights with them. The articles and Tucker Carlson each attribute the figures to both a Washington Post data collection derived from CDC data. I cannot attest that the numbers are complete.
I assume many here have seen these numbers (they are no secret), but in the interest of those who frequent news sites that are loath to publish them and are trafficking in the “genocide” rhetoric, I offered it so they might be informed more fully.

The spin begins in your title Joe--and you did the spinning. "Cops committing genocide", says who? Because the lawyer representing Mr Floyd's family chooses such rhetoric that does not mean it has any factual weight to it---hell that is no different than any of the outlandish things trump comes up with. For the record, his twisting of the "statistics" was shameful.
Genocide defined:
So--is it genocide---not in my book. Now, does that mean it can be dismissed and ignored---not in my book. What is Carlson trying to prove---it sounds to me like he is trying to prove that everyone should just settle down and carry on---no big deal, and there isn't an ounce of surprise in that sir, it is exactly what I would expect of him.Genocide is an internationally recognized crime where acts are committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. These acts fall into five categories:
Killing members of the group
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group
There are a number of other serious, violent crimes that do not fall under the specific definition of genocide. They include crimes against humanity, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and mass killing.

You may have skipped the introductory part of the video, where, had you seen it, prominent figures were using the “genocide” term in connection with policing in the U.S. of black Americans. Look at the lead-in shot and you will see Senator Booker and other notables going over the edge. If you query the term in this connection, it is prevalent in the discussions going on even as it is ridiculous, which is the point of this thread and something you pointed out yourself, Dave. No one said a police murder, such as that of Mr. Floyd, is irrelevant, but the statistic show how rare it is in refutation to the meme that it happens often enough to justify mass civil unrest and destruction aimed at bringing down The System.

I have to confess to not listening closely to senator Booker.
We seem to be on the same page with this one.
Per the Washington Post, death by cop is down 5.9% in the past five years. I believe that is an improvement on an otherwise abominable statistic. https://www.washingtonpost.com/inves...82b_story.html
According to the FBI statistics, Black murders are on a numerical par with whites who are murdered. The problem is that Blacks are 1/8 of the population of whites, so if you are black, you are 8 times more likely to die in what could be considered a violent manner. Interestingly, the vast majority of Black murders are committed by someone of their own race, which is really the same across the board. Twice as many Whites died at the hands of a black man, as blacks that died at the hands of a white man. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s...ta-table-6.xls
Maybe the Black Lives Matter issue is not a matter of police brutality, though it obviously exists, but more likely a cultural issue of violence. I have some theories that a lot of it stems from education and a lack of fathers in the home, but that could be my own unsubstantiated bias.
These disparities extend to far more than violence, it also encompasses homelessness and drug addiction. Maybe we need to find the root cause, and figure out a way to overcome that to solve a lot of the racial problems.

Exposing lies is fine--and necessary---until the presence of lies and focusing on them moves us to the point of denial of the problems through liberal applications of white wash (pun intended). We have a racial problem, we have racial injustice, and unless we face that, admit it, understand it and decide to fix it---we will just keep coming back here again and again.

One of the greatest of racial injustices takes place nightly in Chicago where young African Americans are slaughtered on the streets in numbers that pale in comparison to police action or anything else for that matter. It has been going on for years including the 8 years of the Obama administration. If black lives matter and I firmly believe they do, Chicago would be a good place to start. Throw all of the energy that has been shown over the last weeks into stopping the senseless blood shed there. Their incompetent Mayor sure the hell is doing nothing.
OPINION....a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
I see what you are saying, but I do not believe that there is a fix for it. Racial problems and injustice have been around since the beginning of time. Some folks just don't understand and refuse to accept that there are other folks that are different than them, be it color, religion, nationality, language or any number of things. You can't legislate that away. The only real hope is that the mixing of races will eventually meld into a single "human" who is made up of all races. That is in progress now, but it will take a long time to complete.
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible - Arthur C. Clarke
Being an incorrigible optimist I believe that this can change, not quickly but over generations and the importance and value of it justifies a commitment of generations. Nothing ever is changed if we don't try, or simply sit back and wait until someone else fixes the speck in their own eye first---that is simply a cop out.
While I don't know by what measures we would judge success, I do know that the journey would bring us to a better place then we are now.
I have been encouraged by the clips that I have seen of the BLM demonstrations that seem to often be more white than black participants. In our own little town, with but a few blacks, a demonstration last week drew 600+ and they were predominately town's people.

My exposure to people of different races is significant, but my understanding of of these race protests is limited.
My whole life, ethnic minority's have had the same rights as me. My entire working life I had to administer various federal/state programs aimed (apparently) at assisting minority owned businesses. I have seen ridiculous quotas, and even more ridiculous enforcement based on race. And yet, me and to the best of my knowledge nobody in my family has ever engaged in an act of "racism".
Now I'm not saying that because I don't recognize or perceive it it isn't happening, but before I agree to join the parade someone needs to articulate the problem and proposed solutions a little better. What I have seen is absurd.
I suppose that's the opposite of the "white guilt" that liberals like to throw around.
