I have found my candidate for President

...and he is right here at home

    ---Senator Pat Toomey

Standing with Peaceful Protesters and Law Enforcement
I was in Philadelphia last week to talk about the tragic death of George Floyd.
The video of Mr. Floyd's death was sickening to watch and deeply disturbing. In the coming months, the officers charged will stand trial for their actions, and I am hopeful and confident that justice will be done.
The vast majority of police officers across Pennsylvania and across the country are hardworking, honorable men and women who do the right thing: protect and serve. Recognizing that every organization has bad actors, those individuals must be held accountable when they commit misconduct.
I also fully understand the anger that so many people feel. I felt that anger watching the video, and I still feel that anger. I support the right of people to peacefully protest - an act that goes back to the beginning of our republic. The right to protest is enshrined in the very first amendment of our Constitution. Pennsylvanians routinely come together to exercise that right peacefully in an effort to effect change.
Unfortunately, the protests have been marred by some who have chosen violence and lawlessness, and have left a wake of destruction in their path. They're also undermining the effort to honor George Floyd's memory, and to spark dialogue and constructive action.
I am grateful for the brave police officers in Pennsylvania who have gone into harm's way to quell the lawless rioting and looting, and for the good Samaritans who have helped clean up the damage and tried to dissuade rioters from engaging in destructive acts.
You can watch the entire press conference here.

Being an astute and experienced politician, he has issued a firm and reasonable statement on the burning (no pun intended) issue of the day, one which will appeal to a broad cross section of the voting public...I know nothing else of him...What are his plans for containing and preventing future outbreaks of disease?...What are the issues that concern him most in budgets?...How will he allocate funding for issues such as national defense, lines of communication (including information movement and transportation)?...What steps will he support to insure funding his budget (debt, taxation or cuts to existing and proposed spending)?...What are his views on 2nd Amendment rights and reduction in crime?...

Those are a few of the issues that occur to me now, and yes, I'm too lazy to look it up myself...I already know you're not a single-issue voter, Dave, so I look to you for information......Ben

Wow! I'm afraid I don't have time now to do your questions justice---I'm at work!

As time permits, I will try to fill in those points but in the meantime I will offer that I have found him to be consistent and reasonable (in my mind) and does not try to dodge the issues we face. He has also never once failed to respond to any of my communications with him---either personally or through an aid. That is in contrast to his "partner" who has only responded once and that was just prior to his last reelection.

All good points, Dave...Add to my list what you consider to be his weakest areas, and what you would suggest to him for improvement...These are all details I would seek knowledge of with any candidate asking for my vote......Ben

You might as well vote for Abe Lincoln...he was pretty good too, but is not running either.
Btw, the usual suspects defaced his statues in a couple of places this weekend.
