Holy hell Butane fireball burns 11 Los Angeles Firemen

11 to USC Medical Center 4 critical 2 on ventilators

the fireball was so intense it melted turnouts and SCBA facemasks, their turnout gear caught on fire. I can't imagine all my gear on fire like that.....

this video caught the explosion and the firefighters trying to escape from the roof down the boom of the aerial ladder

I read it was a marijuana refinery where they squeezed some kind of oil out of the dope...I didn't understand that at all, but it's a real shame that firefighters got hurt saving an operation like that......Ben

Ben it was surrounded by residential apartments they had to try and knock it out to protect the residents in those structures or they most likely have stayed defensive and not made entry.

Eric, I understand the "why" of what they and you do everyday on the job...And I have nothing but respect and awe for the "how" you do it day after day...I would have quit in disgust years ago in the knowledge that all the preventable disasters actually could have been prevented......Ben

Was this a permissible activity to have that much Butane in town, or was it a bandit operation?

This was tragic with repercussions that will undoubtedly last a lifetime for many of those recovering fire fighters and their families. One more reason to despise the dope industry and laud our first responders.
