Why would trump debate anyone? He has nothing to gain from doing so...

Gov. Cuomo is disliked in his state. His espoused programs are disliked universally. He would've been gone after the second [ dem nominating ] debate.

It is immaterial now after his unprecedented disaster in forcing Covid-19 carriers INTO elderly nursing homes in New York.

How many dozen articles do you want? Here’s a sampling —

Last week a loved one of one New York nursing home patient who died of the virus Cuomo made sure ran rampant throughout the facility hoisted a giant banner on a NYC highway reading “Cuomo Killed My Mother!” The Governor changed the policy after 5000 NY nursing home residents died of the Covid-19 virus only after 6 weeks of the policy passed with nursing home administrators screaming for relief every day, yet no apology was forthcoming.

If your news sources did not prominently report this, you now know what they are worth.

I'll ask the question again. What does Trump have to gain by debating anyone? Hell, every time he opens his mouth he is debating himself.... Someone please tell him to shut up and enjoy another 4 years.

I'm thinking he's going to delay the election until the beer virus is gone anyway. Can he do that?

There appears to be quite a spin on this story. Remember, the Nursing Homes are licensed medical facilities and one of their functions is to accept stable patients from hospitals allowing the patient to recuperate. If the nursing facility can not work with a contagious patient, how can the facility perform its tasks that it is licensed to perform.

    WSJ requires a subscription..

From the NY Post.. they are quoting Cuomo.. “And the regulation is common sense: if you can’t provide adequate care, you can’t have the patient in your facility and that’s your basic fiduciary obligation — I would say, ethical obligation — and it’s also your legal obligation.”

From Breitbart.. "At the epicenter of the outbreak, New York issued a strict new rule last month: Nursing homes must readmit residents sent to hospitals with the coronavirus and accept new patients as long as they are deemed “medically stable.” California and New Jersey have also said that nursing homes should take in such patients. Homes are allowed to turn patients away if they claim they can’t care for them safely"

Yes, quite a spin.. My neighbor mentioned this subject today.. she heard it from a TV entertainer..

Spin.. Just my opinion, I could be wrong..

The results speak for themselves as Florida in which their governor banned nursing homes from accommodating Covid-19 patients suffer 1/7 of the deaths that did New York —

New York was in a much different situation than Florida.. New York was hit so hard and so fast that they were foreseeing running out of hospital beds.

New York was storing bodied in refer trucks.. Maryland is storing bodies in an ice rink.. The North East has been hit hard.. real hard..

The Nursing Homes were being held to the tasking that they were licensed for, they could opt out by stating that they could not perform.. but that would have left them with empty beds and empty beds lose $$$.. part of the blame is the nursing homes performing poorly.

I group the news sources that you quote (WSJ requires a subscription) so they are excluded) in the same category as Huffington Post and MSNBC and Russia Today (they don't lie but they spin, super spin) .. big grain of salt required.. Huge grain..

We get Maryland News on local TV.. they are being hammered.. a lot of the country doesn't have a clue as to how bad it is there, and a big hunk of the worst Maryland County does their grocery shopping in Fairfax County Virginia (lucky us!)

Florida is not in the same situation as New York.. not even close..

Just my opinion.. I could be wrong..

And.. from the name calling and critical discussion by TV and radio entertainers.. The GOP is very afraid of Biden.. they would be terrorized my Coumo .. may be big changes in DC in November..

Nice try, Sandman, but there is no excuse for requiring nursing homes to accept Covid-19 positive patients even as their administrators were crying out that they had no PPE or facilities to deal with the influx. I will point out that the NYC facilities, including the Jacob Javitz Center 1000 bed emergence hospital and the Navy hospital ship never got more than marginal use at the same time the local nursing homes were stacking bodies. The policy was inexcusable and Cuomo’s reputation is toast for it. I posit that this was the singular most reprehensible public policy decision in recent memory.

Btw, the Pennsylvania health head issued a very similar policy with a similar result showing 80% of their recorded deaths coming from their nursing homes at the time when the head was assuring residents of the safety of nursing homes, but she was personally removing her own 95 year-old mother from one. Gov. Wolfe fully backs that policy too. Should be crispy burnt toast.
