My power supply died so I took my machine in to my computer guy. While it was in the shop I had him upgrade me to 10.... Any advice? Tip? Tricks?

The transition was not difficult for me, however, I believe there is a lot of capability lurking below the surface that I remain ignorant of

couple of annoying things. Office is cloud based and you have to purchase it or go with open office which is free. It always defaults to the Bing Browser. Go in and set your privacy settings manually or it gives MS access to everything you have on the PC

I don't like the new font
10 is one of the cleanest things I've run on my computer. It's been highly efficient against viruses. Frankly, I like to be able to visit crappy sites without getting infected.

Are you running add on antivirus or just letting 10 take care of things???
Bo---I use Chrome as my default.
Download Chrome---or any browser you like, and open it up. In the upper right corner you should see a few small icons. Click on them until you find the one which contains "settings". In Chrome that is the last one on the right. There you can set up your browser, including font, and set that browser to your preference.
Go gettem

Yeah, I'm using Chrome as well. Plan to play with it this afternoon.
I need to set up my new work station and get ready to start earning a paycheck again on Monday
I know you have worked from home in the past, but this is now the longest period I have gone without, at some point, going to the office---and it is not going as well as I expected. I have been home since the middle of March and the plan is that I will not return to NYC before the middle of June (my wife is having another back surgery the end of May). Yesterday I had a long and detailed conference call with people in the office (they are working legally). I realized after we were done---I miss the direct interaction.
Our next scheduled conference call is on Tuesday. That means I will go that long without having anyone to bounce ideas off of. Yes---I know I can call but it isn't the same as walking down the hall and popping in on someone. We have the conferencing set up well. We can put drawings up for everyone to see and jointly work on concepts---but sometimes just an old fashioned sketch pad works best. I have ordered a pedestal camera that will allow me to project a sketch pad in real time---but it will be absent of a well placed finger and someone saying "what if you moved........." In any event, the synergy offered by focused face to face meetings seems to be somehow diluted.
I'll be glad to get back to my other office and my associates.

I'm the opposite. I worked from home for about 15 years and loved it. The commute is about 30'

My IT guy has told me to stay with the included Microsoft package since, in his opinion, there is nothing better available.
As for blue screens Joe, I only have a dim memory of them.
