    Question

Since it appears almost a certainty that Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee I think it's fair to discuss him in that role. My question is do you think there's any way that Biden can avoid debating Trump before the election. My opinion is is that the Biden camp will try in any way they can to avoid that kind of a debate using the virus or whatever other tool maybe available. I'd really like to hear others opinions

I don't think they have any choice but to debate. If they refuse for any reason the voters will see that as a huge weakness.

I hear you but I've watched most of the democratic debates and I just don't really know how Joe Biden could possibly withstand a presidential debate. Against anybody.

Most minds are already made up. I doubt many Democrats or Republican minds would be swayed no matter what was said by either side. I know that I would not bother to watch it.

Agreed. No reason for a debate. Nothing to be gained.

But plenty to be lost with just a simple misstep. Both candidates excel at that, but I think Biden is more likely to put his foot in it.

A debate will be decisive. It is not Joe playing the fool on TV that will be the issue, it is his past when he was supposedly competent. Joe Biden has a long and ignominious history of Chi-Com appeasement and quisling behavior, plus the most gigantic payoff in history to his family to be exposed to a sleeping public on the issue at a time in which relations with China has become paramount after Xi sent us and the world a vicious pandemic proving their nature. Trump will tag Biden on something he cannot dodge, and we know Trump’s bonafides opposing China.

Trump has already started issuing campaign ads hitting the issue.

I don't know Joe, the public obviously hasn't cared about our politicians being perfidious thieves before, I don't see anybody that votes based on hate changing their tune for any reason.

Yep - in a country where a sexual abuser has become President, I also doubt voters will change their tune this time around. And, now Biden has his own sexist behavior to answer for. I think we end up choosing who violates our mores and standards the least.
