“You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out.” — Too fundamental to have an attribution
Please, if you would, share some of this lefty glee that you speak of.
Much of the time I see these kinds of "comments" about the left and what the left is doing/thinking, they come from the right---just an observation.

The D’rats are not even trying to hide their “never let a crisis go to waste” glee on this power play.
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) told colleagues late last week that the need for a massive stimulus bill to protect the economy and American families provided the Democrats a “tremendous opportunity” to “restructure” the bill to get them things that they want to advance their partisan agenda.

Having worked for Republican politicians for years (and still consulting) most were not the monsters I initially thought they would be. After being hired several years ago into a leadership position, my new boss sat me down and asked me what I thought of working for her. I told her I had bad experiences with some of her actions and that I was unsure if we could ever work together. Surprisingly, she smiled and proceeded to tell me how she basically felt the same about me. Then, we discussed how this new honesty had re-defined our relationship.
Over the next several years, she and I fought many battles together and we became good friends. She is now deceased, but we were regularly sharing old work scenarios and war stories. And, before I retired I went around and visited with many of my old enemies to make peace. I no longer miss the work I did. But, I do miss many of the people I worked with.
