Sodium or Lithium - Glass battery?

Did I miss this or is this new?

Claims of a breakthrough EV battery seem to come every week or two. The reality is that it’s not so easy to bend the laws of physics. But the latest claim is offered by John Goodenough, co-inventor of the now ubiquitous lithium-ion battery and winner of a Nobel Prize in chemistry for that previous breakthrough.
Goodenough, a researcher at the University of Texas at Austin, revealed a sodium-glass battery technology last week. He told IEEE Spectrum:
Should we believe Professor Goodenough when we’ve heard so many promises about breakthrough batteries before – and they never seem to pan out?
Well, yes, says Donald Sadoway, a battery researcher and MIT materials science professor:

That's the first I've heard of it. I guess the virus has flooded the news so deeply that things like this don't get reported.

I hope it's true and cost effective.

The world is waiting for the rollout and proof of concept. It can’t happen fast enough. Reading the comments, it seems this battery has been talked about for 3 years or so, but just now received a patent.

"When John Goodenough makes an announcement, I pay attention. He’s tops in the field and really a fantastic scientist. So, his pronouncements are worth listening to."

Wow. This is an outstanding scientific find.
Much different then when Utah scientists claimed to master Cold Fusion.
I hope Goodenough gains another Nobel for this one.

Some mention is made in the commentsvthat the quote was from him when he was 94 three years ago.

Yes, he does seem to do as well in life as he does in Science.
