    Quarantine project

    That was fun
Worked on fixing an old fly rod that had a bad fracture. First I measured the damaged area and cut a fiberglass wand to length. This was followed by sanding it's diameter down to where it fit inside the rod. I glued the wand inside the rod with jb weld then covered the outside of the repair with more jb weld and wound a double layer of Dacron thread over the repair and into the jb weld before it set. Finally I added another layer of jb weld over the thread. Now to let it cure. I will find out tomorrow if it will hold up to casting. Now time for another cup of coffee and on to the next thing

This morning I put a reel loaded with a 5wt weight forward fly line on it and did 50-60 casts. It worked beautifully. The real test will be how it holds up when there is a fish on the line, although that could be quite a while given the current situation.

The only place I can go is the Bass Ponds on the Arroyo because it is walk in with street parking otherwise the parks are closed. Float tubes only and its a PITA to get to so not many folks go there.

Our public lakes and streams are open. All parks shut down.

Closed rec areas around here. Took the grand kids out for some rc rock crawling this morning. First time running the cars for 2 of them and of course they didn't go fast enough. Not as if they could drive them. LOL.
