Having spent my youth on the business end of dairy cows I understand the need to milk them---but there is a disconnect in the supply chain when the needs on the retail end are not being met and raw product is being tossed
As for meat---I have read a number of articles of slaughter houses shutting down because of the virus---and they aren't the small producers, these are some of the largest in the country. That said, the spotty supply at my butcher shop began prior to hearing of shutdowns.

My new neighbor says if it gets too bad we'll slaughter one of his steers and butcher it ourselves to fill the freezers. I hope it doesn't come to that.
