    Graphic Ranking Of History’s Plagues

I was unable to produce an image on our page that was sized correctly, so you will have to open the citation to see one until someone does it here for us. As you will see, the latest “pandemic” barely reaches a scalable level measured against those of history.

    https://www.ancient.eu/image/12023/h...est-pandemics/

Below is a short accessible history of some of them to compare —

    https://www.ancient.eu/collection/68...es-in-history/

It should be kept in mind that the sheer numbers are not necessarily a good comparison, where the population was much less as time digresses, which would throw off a much greater percentage of death rate.

You ready to take another run at trying to turn this into a non-issue?

Seems even trump has given up on that approach.

This one is far from finished. I suspect it will be moving up on the chart.

I have been trying to figure out the mortality rate---it can't be done with any accuracy, but at this point, based on the numbers at hand it is running about 2X that of previous flues.

An interesting comment from my Bishop this morning in Mass. He was asking people to please stay home and then he said your sacrifice in this hardship pales in comparison to what your parents, grandparents, and great grandparents did during WWII.
I guess that is the way a Bishop says "suck it up and stop your whining".

The data is pretty much only fit for internet arguments. But at least WE are starting to get some. I wonder about the accuracy of the numbers from 1250 also.

There is one thing certain---any position taken on that point is as supportable as any other position---or non-supportable as the case maybe

    It's all so sobering.

When I'm petty and focus inward, I merely see what Coronavirus takes from me. But, I also see what so many others are going through.

For example, I miss going to Las Vegas. I've whined about it a few times here. Yet, I also realize I would not be able to go and simply party away the hours. That's where the sobering process hits. I would know there's just too much pain and loss out there to act like it doesn't exist. We are all part of this and connected by it.

Let me clarify......the data we have is, while interesting, bullsquirt. As are most of the analyses drawn from it.

We are carrying the mortality statistics to 4 decimal places and we don't even know how many people live in this country.

Btw, I like the NYT CV page. A little more reliable than Johns Hopkins. There, threw you a bone.
