    Ford diesel trucks

I can't find a link for what I need but I saw a 2009 diesl F_250 for sale, clean! But I don't know squat about what Ford has made since they got rid of the 6.0. So could anyone tell me what diesels are in the Fords since the 6.0 and just a quik good or bad on the engine. My 1994 is about dead and I think I'd rather sleep in a truck than drive a car. I can't do both but I've got a lot of stuff going on and I'd like to go with a smile on my face. And if there is anyway I can swing a older superduty

I have a 2012 (60,000 mi) with the 6.7. It goes to the shop tomorrow for the second time in its life. This time a coolant leak, that if rumors are correct could cost me over $1000 and include up to removing the intake and turbo.

We just got my wifes ecoboost out of the dealership where it spent 3 weeks in exploratory surgery. The transmission (and engine by virtue that they are one and the same these days) started acting up. $1800 later and and a new throttle body (! - in addition to a long list of other stuff) and she's good as new.

Besides the diesel who has a specific job, I see more Toyotas in our future. We just bought a 2018 Tacoma that is wonderful.

My post doesn't help you at all, but at the moment I'm a little twitchy about ferds. Good luck.

I'll get this out of my system first and just mention that the main difference between driving a Ford and walking is you can't swing your arms in a Ford...However, I know you like your Fords and have a certain comfort level in them, Mike, so my advice would be to look for one with the fewest electronic conveniences and the most complete service records...That gives you fewer chances of breaking something expensive, plus a better idea of what did go wrong for the previous owner(s), when and how was it fixed and was scheduled maintenance done regularly...

I did that when I looked for the current beast, and bought it with only manual door locks, crank up windows, and seats and mirrors that I adjust by hand...I have the simplest radio they offered and minimum but necessary (for me) creature comforts like A/C that actually blows cold...But it came with complete service records including CarFax, and judging from its overall condition was obviously well cared for by its non-smoking driver (it was a corporate highway delivery truck)...It had 145,000 miles mostly highway, and zero leaks anywhere...The result is I have fewer gadgets to entertain me, but I can take comfort in the knowledge that it gave someone reliable service for its first ten years...
Bottom line is, whatever you buy make sure you can see yourself still enjoying it and serving your purpose ten years from now......Ben

2009 would have been the 6.4L diesel. https://www.drivingline.com/articles...s-64l-edition/

Me I would look for a 2012 or later with the 6.7. not that it doesn't have a few issues (same for Chevy and GMC) the CP4 fuel pump will go and grenade at around 130,000 miles and require an engine rebuild for around $16,000 or you replace it at 115,000 or so for $2400 (which I did)

Yep the high pressure fuel pump is a bitch to get to. They have to lift the cab off the chassis to reach it. Pump and two fuel lines are $900, the rest is labor and tax. It's an 8 hour job. But it beats the hell out of a full engine rebuild. The pump uses diesel to lube itself. Bosch Europe makes it. Euro diesel has enough lubricity additive to prevent excess wear, US diesel doesn't. When the pump grenades it throws metal shavings into the injectors and cylinders.
