Incredible State of the Union speech

I actually thought it was fantastic. I have to admit I was distracted by the skeletal lady that was to his right behind him who kept mouthing words sort of randomly. And of course the classless Nancy Pelosi ripped up the speech as the president finished bingo

I think it was the best SOTU speech that I have ever seen. By far.

Pelosi was a side show that distracted from the night. I was amazed to see her ripping up the speech behind the President. What a classless act!

    Four more years!

[on edit] I rarely watch a SOTU address so I could have missed some great ones. That does not take away from how I feel about this speech. I am still surprised by Pelosi's speech tearing stunt. Very unprofessional and juvenile behavior.

Actually Mike it is beyond classless I could never imagine a judge handing me a written ruling in court and me tearing it up in front of the judge. I wouldn't be in the jail I would be under the jail and it wouldn't just be for a few hours. That act alone shows how desperate she is and how afraid they are that they can't defeat Trump in 2020. I know what I stated above is an analogy but it is a realistic analogy of respect for a system and decorum.

One thing should be obvious to all observers — the more Trump succeeds for Americans, the more it enrages his opposition. It is as if the D’rats wish for any failure even if it inures to the public’s detriment, as long as it can be blamed on their nemesis.

I had already decided that, unlike our politicians, I would not be drawn into a fight over whom is right and wrong on this issue. Say what you will, my friends, but I will pass on this one.

All of this was driven further home by the "Question" and answer given downstairs in The Captain's Mess. For, while our political leaders fuss and fight, Mike seems to be riding out the storm well.

I don't like the spectacle, and there was far too much "I" for me to enjoy it. And Trump is clearly better than anyone before him at producing a made for tv event. Trump deserves credit for helping, but he didn't make America great, Americans did.

He is no Reagan, who is the first president I had a chance to vote for when I was 19.

BTW Honda, it looks like you may be a lawyer? No judgement from me - just perspective to help me understand your point of view. I'm sure it has been explained here somewhere during the time our corporate lawyers took my internet away.

If they would ask everyone to hold their applause until the end I would watch. We all know who is going to stand and applaud at the end of each sentence. One side stands, one side does not. It just depends which party is in power as to which side stands... It gets annoying.

“Corporate lawyers took my internet away?” Sounds like a story I missed along the way and might be interesting.

Trump snubbing Pelosi by refusing to shake her hand .. in the little game that the two are playing, seems to have worked.. She was obviously pizzed off the rest of the evening..

I can't remember all of the laws that suggested those in the board room should refrain from making reckless public statements, but we were reminded frequently by our lawyers while enjoying the safety of their magic cloak that our policy was to refrain. I seem to remember being specifically restrained by Sarbanes-Oxley (sp?). I was considered an insider at a publicly traded company.

The internet is a fun place but can hurt carreers more than it helps it seems. This post alone is TMI but may add that perspective that helps some.

Pelosi’s speech transcript tearing episode was all preplanned with video evidence that she prepared the pages by pre-tearing them long before the final scene in her little act.

I’m quite sure Trump preplanned his slight of Pelosi by refusing a hand shake. Pelosi dissed him even before that by a non-traditional curt introduction. Tit-for-tat-for-tat-for-tit.
