Agree.. I believe that Rimbaugh was a key player in getting Obama elected.. (I’ll try and explain).. Limbaugh did such a good job vilifying Hillary that she did not get the Dem nomination.. and McCain could have easily beat Obama until Palin was added to the ticket and scares the purple middle over to the blue side...

Just my opinion, I could be wrong..

And.. I would never wish physical harm to someone especially over politics.. may “the big cure” come his way

It appears Rush will attend the STOTU where it will be announced he will soon receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Damned nice gesture on Trump's part. I'm happy to see he will get it while he is still alive.

I guess my memory is a bit off when it comes to when I listened to Rush. His show didn't start until 1988.

Hmmm... I had not thought of that option. You may have nailed it - at least we'll reach that point if you are indeed right on.

It's a public honor, entirely ceremonial for which the recipients are selected solely at the discretion of the President...Rush Limbaugh became one of only three in history from the field of radio, the others being Lowell Thomas and Paul Harvey...He is in good company in that stead out of the myriad of radio professionals who have not been selected for the honor...In comparison, seven Presidents and three Vice Presidents have been recipients...

I agree that it was a good choice by the President to award him while he is extant, rather than posthumously......Ben

This will be my second mortal sin this morning

I am sorry for Limbaugh's failing health, as I have previously stated.

That said, the "honor" showed to him was undeserved and cheapened the very process. It was pure raw politics and vote mongering. Limbaugh has very possibly done more to flame discord, caustic criticism, and mean spirited condemnation of those of different beliefs than anyone.

He found a niche in entertainment that he could leverage for his own benefit---and that is not to the benefit of the country. He has helped destroy civility in this country. I have compassion but zero respect.

    OK my friends---flame away

Dave there's no reason to Flame you. What you have stated is clearly predictable. I would have never expected you to have any respect For one of the sole and only long-standing voices in the media representing the right. .

Dave has a point.. Limbaugh is a brilliant man.. he detected a marketing niche and capitalized on it.. like Howard Stern, Judge Judy and Doctor Phil, he told his audience what they wanted to hear but often couldn’t say.. and like the Kardashians he made a $ billion $ silk purse out of sows ears.. truly brilliant businessman.

But I couldn’t understand the style.. the name calling, cutsie cutsie nicknaming baffles me..

Would listen to him when I was out of the office in the work truck.. was like a long “shamoo “ add..

May be able to add more later..

That pretty much mimics what the Cortez woman in congress said about the President's action...I think the same words could have been used to describe the moment when President Obama bestowed the same medal on his own Vice-President...

I've always looked on him as an entertainer rather than a source of societal insight and political mantra, and as such he has the same right and opportunity to pass on his beliefs to his listeners as do the other entertainers who have gained a public ear...The Hollywood types who use their own notoriety to advance their opinions on those who will listen all enjoy that same right...They all only have a public voice because the media which distribute their words smell a profit...

Does that make it right for those who choose to take what any of these entertainers profess as utter truth, and adopt it for their own beliefs?...I see that as individual choice from the listener, not as a mandate from an enlightened thinker...I no more take Rush Limbaugh's words as political truth than I do those of Alec Baldwin, yet I know many cling to the words of either as gospel...Limbaugh and Baldwin are both talented entertainers whose various works have kept me occupied on many occasions for the time it took for either to finish his act...As Americans they are free to express any belief they embrace, but neither has the definitive word on right and wrong, only the privilege to say it publicly...The truth is in the mind of the listener, not the words of the speaker...

Is that were all the grade school names around here come from? I've never heard his show.
